SAQA Donation

This is Flutterby my donation piece to the SAQA fund raiser this year. It is currently part of the trunk show from the NY regional group.

It is a fabric collage butterfly created from a photograph. It contains sheer organza, velvets, chenilles, and decorator fabrics.  It is machine quilted and ready to hang.

This is the the 20th anniversary of SAQA and I believe it has helped me more than anything else in becoming a better artist/

Holly Knott created a lovely new website for me.  It is fabulous to see my work like this. check it out.  http://wwwPatricia Mattison.com

Well I haven't been posting much, but have made 3 fabric collages forVirginia Spiegel's  Collage Mania.  Having lost both parents to cancer this is a great fundraiser to support.

The first is a quilted collage called Winter Birds  using rusted fabris from Lois Jarvis.
The next is Winter House-----gee can you tell it was a long winter here?

The last is watercolor and fabric collage on watercolor paper of a Japanese Temple.

New Computer, new work-MY Son is Beyond thisRainbow

My Son is
 Beyond this Rainbow

I was lucky enough to be requested to create a commission for a mother who lost her dearly loved son to suicide last year.  She had many elements  to be included  as well as his portraits over many years. She selected an excerpt from a book about clinical depression and suicide.  This is written in the center and requires stepping up to the quilt to read it.  He loved robotics, motor bikes, gargoyles and his mother likes to think of him as beyond a rainbow.

These are some of the photos from the work in progress.
